SUPPORT WORKERS AND CARERS
INTERESTED IN BECOMING A SUPPORT WORKER OR CARER?

As a Support Worker or Carer, you may be in charge of providing care to people with varying degrees of disability and challenges. It is critical to be knowledgeable in this role because the well-being of individuals frequently relies on the delivery of appropriate and effective care.

What exactly does being a Carer or Support worker entail?
Practical assistance includes laundry, cleaning, meal preparation and cooking, and transportation to stores, doctors, and social events.
As a carer, you might offer assistance with getting dressed, managing medications, and helping with showering or bathing.
Managing a variety of medical issues, such as dementia, autism, and difficult behaviour
As a carer, it is frequently your responsibility to provide company to the person in your care, especially the elderly, who frequently suffer from loneliness.
Assisting people with specialised needs, such as those with spinal injuries.

Required Personal Attributes
A skilled Carer or Support worker must be able to exhibit a variety of essential qualities and abilities, such as:
- Passionate about helping out individuals who are vulnerable.
- Able to work under pressure and flexible.
- Good understanding of care principles including respect of a person-centred approach.
- Respect of the inherent worth and dignity of all individuals.
- Uphold integrity and professionalism at all times.
- Great communication skills, e.g. active listening.
- Ability to adhere to procedures established by the residential home and by law.
Required experience and qualifications (see below)
- Level 2 NVQ or higher is preferred but not mandatory.
- Previous care experience is required, and candidate must be able to provide relevant references within the range of at least 5 years.
- Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Medication, Infection Control, and Safeguarding Training will put you at an advantage.
Nb. Though this training is desirable, all training may be provided for current employees.

- Proof of Work Permit in the United Kingdom
- DBS check that is valid
- English is a good written and spoken language.
